Intense Overview Of Halo Reach Weapons

Let;s start off with the staple of Halo 3, The BR or DMR in Halo Reach. I personally have a bit of a love-hate relationship with the Battle Rifle from Halo 3. Basically, I love to hate it. Yeah, yeah, that probably means I don't know how to use it. But I don't know how to use a curling iron either, but that doesn't mean I need to learn how. The BR was a jack of all trades and master of none. Janky up close and lacking at range. Luckily, the BR is out of the Reach beta in favor of the Designated Marksman Rifle. Oh, yes.

The DMR can be a lean, mean headshot machine if you know what you're doing. It's a bit unwieldy at close range, but at mid-to-long range it's deadly. Like the Magnum below, the DMR takes five shots to kill (make sure the last one nails the noggin). And thanks to its dampened recoil, it feels just like shooting womp rats back home. Slow and steady wins the race.

Gamers, we all know that Halo Reach is practically going to be a whole new, redesigned game than the Previous Halos , but fear not because Halo Reach includes all of your old favorites in Halo 3, maybe just more explosive, powerful, or with a new look. Yes, the Br is back only this time it's a single-shot DMR  that will kill with five precise shots with the last one hitting the head. The Sniper Rifle, assault rifle, SMG, needler, magnum, shotty, rocket launcher, plasma pistol, plasma gun, Energy sword and hammer, and plasma launcher all are back with new diggs. Here's a complete list of all the weapons [and grenades] that halo Reach is packed full of:

If the Halo: Reach beta is a delicious home-cooked meal, than the Assault Rifle is the meat and potatoes. It's the go-to-gun when you're in close and don't feel confident about your Magnum skills. Not terribly powerful but not particularly weak, the AR is your best friend in a pinch.

I use controlled bursts with the AR, mainly because it makes me look cool. But if you want to go in with your gun blazing, be my guest. Just be warned that the AR in the Reach beta is tilted more toward accuracy than firepower, so you might come up short when the jumping around and shooting starts. Oh, also, it has a really awesome stripe on it. That really shouldn't excite me as much as it does. I could have left this one out of the lineup because it hasn't really changed all that much from Halos past. But it's just so…. solid. Gotta mention it.

Focus Rifle
Focus Rifle

Just look at that gun for a second. If that doesn't look like a dangerous-ass alien weapon to you, then you are going to be useless in an alien invasion. To me, this is one of the coolest looking guns Bungie has ever designed. It looks like a crocodile snout crossed with one of those Dyson vacuum cleaners. Scary stuff, that. But it's not all looks. This thing backs up its evil exterior with some mean machinery.

You know those Forerunner Sentinel lasers from past Halo games? Well, the Focus Beam crosses one of those with the Covenant Beam Rifle favored by Jackal snipers. So it has the accuracy of a sniper rifle, the searing power of a continuous laser beam and, as an added bonus, a bit of a stun effect when it hits. It's truly terrifying to see this beast burning across the map. Great for picking Jet Packers out of the air, though. Flyboys, you have been warned.

Grenade Launcher
Grenade Launcher

The Covenant don't get to have all the ridiculous fun, though. The Spartans will be rolling into battle with the Grenade Launcher. This sucker fires standard frag grenades, but with a couple added bonuses. First, just like all frags in the Halo: Reach beta, they'll do a small amount of contact damage when they hit an enemy. Probably feels like stepping in front of a ball machine at the batting cage. Thump.

But the Grenade Launcher does another trick, too. Fire it normally to launch a 'nade and watch it bounce around before a timed explosion. Or, you can hold the trigger down when you fire. It'll hang out wherever it comes to rest, waiting for you to release the trigger and blow it. This is great for sabotaging vehicle paths or terrorizing teams at score points in games like Stockpile. As if that weren't enough, these little insta-mines also throw off an EMP blast when they detonate, popping shields as they go.

Magnum
Magnum

I bet you're going to like the power and shooting speed of this beast. Yes, like in Previous Halos the magnum has made its return and this time, has gone all in. The magnum is capable of taking down your opponent in a single round and it's performance is measured by your precision and shooting tactics.

Assault Rifle
AR
This high-capacity automatic weapon is a classic from Halo: Combat Evolved. It can fire up to 32 rounds before having to be reloaded, but each round inflicts only a small amount of damage. Attempting to fire for too long will result in the loss of a lot of accuracy. Nonetheless, the starting weapon in Halo Reach.

Spartan Laser
Spartan Laser
One of the major weapons returning from Halo 3 is the Spartan Laser, a powerful beam weapon that can toast just about anything in the game in one blow. It was arguably the most powerful handheld weapon in the game back then, but it requires a lot of skill to use properly. You'll find that it's still the epitome of  conflagration  in Halo Reach!Whenever you shoot this gun at something, it's going to blow up no question.

Shotgun
Shotgun
What was the shotty missing in Halo Reach? Range and close-out ability. Well, in Halo Reach the shotgun has more range and inflicts more damage with each shot [meaning that as the shield goes down it can pierce and devastate enemies better] . Yes, indeed gamers the shotgun is the go to weapon for you campers, stealthy types and for close encounters.

Sniper Rifle
Sniper Rifle
The Sniper Rifle is a powerful single-shot weapon that's designed to quickly eliminate foes from a distance, although it can be used at closer ranges. No scoping is still going to be a skill that can be mastered and this time around with better blown-up graphics, you'll be carrying it around with you into rooms and in sniper nests, although not recommended! The look of the sniper in Halo Reach is nothing short of awesome!

Grenade Launcher
Grenade Launcher
The Grenade Launcher is a shoulder-fired single-shot weapon that shoots explosive ammunition. Despite the name, it does not shoot hand grenades but rather its own shells. You can press down the trigger then release it when you want it to explode to take down an enemy vehicle or closing enemy or rather just press down the trigger and let it fly and it Will explode in a few seconds. Deadly in a room full of enemies.

Machine Gun
MG
The Machine Gun of unknown kind is happens to be new to the Halo: Reach arsenal. An MG is a very effective weapon against enemy ground forces and light vehicles. And best of all, it will still jack up your opponents' aim like in Halo 3. It's a SMG without the S meaning small damage. These MG'S can kill much faster than an assault rifle and have the ability , with armor piercing rounds, to take down a challenging vehicle.

Designated Marksman Rifle
DMR
The single shot weapon fits somewhere between the Sniper Rifle and Battle Rifle. It's deadly at range but a fast trigger and careful aim make it dangerous at close and medium range. This is different from the Br in Halo 3 because it shoots at a slower frequency and takes five shots [last one to head] to kill you opponent.

Combat Knife
Combat Knife
The Combat Knife is a multi-purpose infantry-sized knife used for close quarters. Although it is already known from Buck in ODST, it will now most probably make a game play appearance in Halo: Reach.

Carved Knife
Carved Knife
A different variant of the Combat Knife is the Carved Knife being used by an yet unknown Spartan Grenadier. Unlike the standard variant this one is attached onto the right shoulder.
Covenant Weapons

Plasma Pistol
Plasma Pistol
The Plasma Pistol is the most basic weapon in the Covenant armory. Each individual bolt inflicts a light amount of damage, making it useful only against weak enemies. If you hold the trigger, you can charge the plasma pistol for more energy.Like in Halo 3, it can stop enemy vehicles in their tracks leaving you a grenade throw away from a take- down.

Needler
Needler
The Needler fires small, explosive spikes that will home in on a target if fired in their general direction. These spikes do a bit of damage on impact but then explode a few seconds later, causing a great deal more damage to the target and anyone nearby. The Change from Halo 3, it no longer can curve, and go around corners as well and takes more skill and precision to use .

Needle Rifle
Needle Rifle
The Needle Rifle happens to be a mixture mid-range of Needler and Carbine. Three individual hits from the Needle Rifle will super-combine and explode.Very fun to use and one of my favorite weapons that I've tried in the Halo Reach beta.

Plasma Repeater
Plasma Repeater
The ultimate weapon to use to take down an opponents' shield and back with a cool new ability. It no longer overheats just shoots slower and slower if you don't let up on it so it can recharge. A favorite of the Elites in Campaign again and even more annoying when you're trying when facing an enemy one these blinding your aim.

Rocket Launcher
Rocket Launcher
Back and this time with heat-seeking abilities to take down all kinds of enemies. the rocket launcher has got a serious upgrade with the ability to take down any vehicle and the beastly explosion it creates. For real, it can explode half of a small room. Definitely, the beat of Halo Reach and the second most dominant force besides the Spartan Laser a s far as dominance.

Energy Sword
Energy Sword
The same as in Halo 3 only now the Spartan has the farther lunging range so they stole the show! Elites don't fret, because you still can combine the sword with the load-out ability stalker to create your own killing haven anywhere you choose. The sword hasn't been replaced by the cool new knifes introduced it still stands as  the weapon of choice for camo Elites and campers!

Gravity Hammer

Gravity Hammer
Yes, this is now a favorite if the Spartans and can be deadly when combined with airborne or stalker. A special-ops favorite for just about anything your imagination can think of from taking down vehicles, assassinating form the air, and racking up a few double kills. In  Halo Reach, the gravity hammer has longer range and is more lethal than it was  in Halo 3.

Grenades
Plasma Grenade
Frag Grenade

Now, in Halo 3 grenades were formidable but not lethal with one throw like in Halo Reach. Grenades, especially the huge plasma grenades,  can now kill with just one grenade and are much easier to stick and throw accurately because of their size and the improved graphics. Look to not waste these, because if your know where your opponent is coming form than these can  take him out before he even sees you.The flame and spike grenades have been exiled form Halo Reach because they were more confusing to gamers for selection than actual damage infliction.

So, what are we missing? The mauler, beam rifle, and carbine. These Three weapons have been dismantled and synthesized to create new and exciting weapons so we won't be missing any of these. Halo Reach launches on September 14 and is available blow at Amazon with free shipping  and an added $20.00 dollars credit given to you when you complete your purchase guaranteed:
